Virgin Flyer by Lucy Lennox is a sweet age-gap romance featuring a pilot who doesn't usually commit, a nurse whose held onto his virginity, and the complex feelings about a love you've known versus a love that you appreciate.

The setting ground for this story is that Teo is in love with his best friend Chris, who he's had on-and-off again hidden relationship with since they were kids. However, he is a virgin and doesn't want to embarrass himself should he get with Chris, so he opts to find a hookup. From there we get swept into meeting Jack, a pilot. Some forced proximity and chance meetings, they fall into each others arms again - and Jack agrees to be a fake boyfriend to help make Chris jealous, although he is becoming attached to Teo quite quickly.

Read the book to see how it all comes together, but I'll say I love Jack and his protectiveness and care for Teo, and how Teo shows Jack that vulnerability is okay. These characters were both so sweet and swoony for each other, from grand romantic gestures and their desire for picket fences, to their family and friends who support them.

I don't often read these rather sweet and non-kinky contemporaries but this one really worked for me! Though it felt almost angsty where they still had hit after hit in the third act of the book, but I'm delighted how it call came together... and does Ryan Fae have a book?!

Definitely recommend this book if you're into the tropes!
